/ Position Summary /



Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and in preparing basic financial reports.

The individual in this position will work with the ADT Controllership team to perform accounting duties including, but not limited to: (i) reviewing monthly account reconciliations; (ii) ensuring that the existing accounting processes and policies are carried out as intended; (iii) supporting future systems implementation, (iv) driving process improvement by identifying inefficiencies and proposing viable solutions; and (v) leading or participating in other projects as identified by Controllership management. Must have familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley requirements and assist in maintaining ADT’s internal control environment. Interact with external and internal auditors on a regular basis. This role may include supervising/mentoring other staff and senior accountants. /Responsibilities & Qualifications:/

  • Oversee reconciliation of basic and complex general ledger accounts monthly including research and resolution of discrepancies,

  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and supporting schedules,

  • Communicate effectively with team members from other functional areas as well as external sources,

  • Support the financial reporting team as needed for preparation of the Form 10-Q, 10-K and other filings as needed,

  • Comply with Internal controls and best practices,

  • Initiate process improvements to increase efficiency of financial close and accuracy of financial accounts,

  • Provide information for auditors,

  • Special projects.


  • Leads a team of Accounting professionals by providing clarity of vision and expectations; role modeling effective coaching and performance feedback, prioritizing resources; facilitating alignment of the team and partners.

  • Develops and executes a strong talent management plan including talent assessment, selection, empowerment, coaching, motivation and retention of top talent; builds and develops succession plans and pipeline of talent.

  • Cultivates employee engagement and positive employee relations environment through robust and regular employee communications, performance feedback, reward and recognition culture, and focused employee development.

  • Collaborates directly with Residential, Small Business, Operations, and other partners in Finance to execute on the Controllership objectives and the overall ADT Strategic Plan.

  • Employs a diverse and creative communications framework to align employees and generate understanding and commitment to achieving the Controllership objectives aligned to the ADT Strategic Plan.

/Strategic Planning/

  • Supports departmental budget and forecasting activities.

  • Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other business related field

  • Masters degree in business administration and/or CPA Certification Preferred (If Bachelor is not in Accounting, Master’s degree in Accounting is required)

  • CPA candidate or licensee plus


  • 7 to 10 years experience.

  • Must be organized and detail oriented, possess a systems background, flexible, able to work independently, good oral and written communication skills, and have worked in a medium to large corporate environment.

  • Understands and is able to apply accounting concepts

  • Comfortable with and able to utilize computer technology Microsoft Excel (advanced) and Access skills a strong plus

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive and respond in a fast paced environment

  • Analytical thinking skills

  • Superior working relationship skills – the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships.

  • Change leadership – the ability to identify and implement change, complete projects and transformation related programs across multiple organizations/functions, and the ability to lead a team through these changes.

  • Experience with ERP ledgers systems is preferred (Oracle, Baan, SAP, JDE)
