Joslin Diabetes Center Staff Accountant (Revenue) in Boston, Massachusetts
The Staff Accountant (Revenue) is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the revenue cycle process for Joslin, which include: commercial property, ad-hoc non-patient clinic billing, education programs and affiliate licensing, philanthropy and events lines of business.
Primary tasks include contract management and review, billing, revenue recognition, cash deposits and bank statement reconciliation. The individual will also be expected to manage Joslin’s fixed asset register, prepare accruals and prepaid entries and assist with other ad-hoc entries as well as prepare property state tax filings.

Billings and revenue recognition on multiple deliverable agreements related to the innovations segment:
All non-patient billings
Attends weekly collection meetings with Controller, Assistant Controller and Innovations Executive Assistant.
Runs monthly revenue meeting with Innovations, setting agenda walking through issues, contract expiration and prospect viability.
Assists with Audit, supplying backup for selections, creating lead schedules and flux analysis for A/R, deferred revenues and earned revenue.
Provides summary analysis of monthly revenue, indicating positive and negative trends and links to expenses incurred during the period.
Prepares various prepaid entries related to educational programs.
Generates accrual entries related to education programs, utilities and other expenses.
Issues week reports and narrative pertain to collection status of accounts receivable.
Updates on a monthly basis balance sheet account reconciliation.
Reconciles clinic patient bank account and philanthropy bank account working with the respective departments to resolve variances.
Generates closeout entries for the philanthropy events reconciling cash receipts, revenues and expenses.
Manages all aspects of pledge accounting including the recognition and viability of collection.
Prepares State Tax filings for property and assets.
Manages the lease accounting for any capital items acquired.
Responsible for reconciliation of fixed assets accounts including additions, disposals, depreciation tracking and asset retirement.
Fills in for the senior accountant daily cash reporting
Perform other duties as assigned
BA or BS degree in Accounting or related field preferred
Minimum 0-2 years of accounting experience; 2-4 years of experience highly preferable
Strong understanding of financial systems, ability to mine data effectively. Lawson experience would be a plus.
Working knowledge of GAAP accounting rules, including ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts and accounting procedures
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure during the period end close.
Good analytical reasoning and quantitative analysis skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to develop and bring to completion multiple assignments concurrently.
