GGP has an immediate need for a Staff Accountant - Lease at our corporate office in Chicago, IL.

Position is responsible for mastering all phases of analysis, administration, and processing of all lease data and charges, including cost accumulation,
verification, analysis and preparation of all billings, such as common area maintenance, real estate ax and percentage rent.
Lease data is used by all areas of the company thus it is extremely important that the data be accurate and updated on a timely basis. Gain a working knowledge of how JDE set-up impacts Financial Reporting. Comply with corporate and departmental policies
Responsibilities include the following:

Ensure you are communicating to your Supervisor your career growth plan.
Ensure completion of all legal documents based on department guidelines, including abstraction, interpretation, input, and analyze of the information.
Ensure completion of tenant billing recoveries for Common Area Maintenance, Utilities and Real Estate Taxes in accordance with department guidelines.
Ensure compliance with departmental and corporate policies, procedures and guidelines.
Ensure the overage rent process, including review of non-standard setup and completion of monthly billing. Also, collection of missing sales.
Ensure completion of all tracking schedules, including complete review to ensure that all data points are completed timely.
Ensure all of the data request que’s are completed timely.
Identify and escalate problematic lease language that is financially detrimental or difficult to efficiently administer. Prepare analysis of financial impact.
Develop and Maintain Processes
Development of new procedures and enhancement of existing procedures. Recommend enhancements to improve efficiencies and maximize the utilization of departmental resources.
Roll-out of processes developed to Lease Accounting and other groups in the organization.
Prepare and maintain work status schedules and ‘To Do’ lists to facilitate effective management of the department.
This schedule should be maintained and updated weekly and reviewed with your manager for prioritization.
Perform a self-review of all work products to ensure accurate billings. Submit work product for approvals as required by department policy.
Participate in the performance on due diligence activities for potential acquisitions. This includes the analyzation of Lease Language and Billings and verification to Due Diligence materials.
Participate in the JDE set up of acquired properties. Includes development of input scripts and validation plans and execution of steps on these plans.
Process bankruptcy and termination billings. Escalate issues to Manager on a timely basis.
Assist in corporate systems improvement initiatives by serving as a team member and/or performing required testing. Analyze information as required by project charter.
Other duties and specific projects as assigned.
Qualifications include the following:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
2 years of commercial real estate experience in corporate or property accounting preferred
Understanding of basic accounting and business principles
Knowledge of Excel and personal computer software
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines
