JOB PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, provide a variety of clerical accounting duties in support of an accounting function or department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mill-Based Positions

  • Process wood payments for wood suppliers and corrections to scale tickets as needed.
  • Process miscellaneous sales invoices, which include employee sales, mulch, scrap metal, etc.
  • Submit check vouchers for all miscellaneous invoices and any other checks received on site
  • Reconcile petty cash as needed
  • Reconcile transactions, financial data, and other information to automated accounting system (SAP) correcting errors as needed.
  • Design, prepare and maintain spreadsheets
  • Prepare statements, invoices, account reconciliations and moderately complex reports
  • Perform miscellaneous office duties
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as necessary

Corporate-Based Positions

  • Post transactional accounting information to appropriate accounts
  • Prepare statements, invoices, and moderately complex reports
  • Process accounts payables and/or accounts receivables.
  • Work with vendors and customers in resolving account issues and discrepancies
  • Work with internal processing groups in various work streams for process efficiencies
  • May process payroll for hourly employees
  • Perform miscellaneous office duties
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping techniques
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good data entry and 10-key skills
  • Good written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to operate a computer and supporting software packages, including the ability to satisfactorily perform all SAP tasks associated with this role

Education:

  • High school diploma with advanced coursework in accounting

Experience:

  • 3 - 4 years' accounting or clerical experience required
  • Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position
