Accounting Policy Leader

Key Role:

Lead a team of approximately 10 resources primarily responsible for developing and implementing Booz Allen’s corporate accounting policies, evaluating complex and technical transactions, and leading initiatives designed to improve and enhance company-wide revenue recognition policies and processes, and provide strategic perspective on capital allocation and capital and M&A structuring, including purchase accounting, due diligence, and tax implications. Evaluate and oversee the implementation of company-wide accounting policies, new accounting standards, and other applicable financial reporting guidance and give leadership and oversight to the company’s adoption and implementation of ASC 606. Lead accurate and timely company-wide revenue recognition accounting and related periodic close and reporting procedures and lead initiatives to improve and enhance revenue recognition policies and operational processes. Lead interactions with Booz Allen’s external auditors on highly technical and complex accounting areas. Contribute to Booz Allen’s overall system of internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, including the updating and documenting of revenue recognition process flows and controls. Oversee certain portions of periodic close process for revenue recognition, including the review of entries, estimates-at-completion, and reconciliations prepared by accounting and finance staff and the preparation of high-quality and concise documentation of interim and year end analyses for corporate accounting and reporting activities, including stock and employee benefits, goodwill, debt or hedging, M&A, impairment analyses, consolidated entities, and non-routine transactions.

Basic Qualifications:

-12+ years of experience as a finance leader with extensive US GAAP experience from a public company or public accounting firm

-Experience with offering leadership and oversight to an ASC 606 implementation

-Ability to demonstrate a leadership presence, creating a high sense of accountability and integrity throughout the organization and promote a positive and supportive work environment to attract, retain, and develop direct reports

-Ability to succinctly articulate business and accounting issues to finance and non-finance audiences alike

-Ability to make well-reasoned decisions in a professionally skeptical manner

-Ability to demonstrate highly adept time management and effectively manage competing priorities and tasks

-BA or BS degree

-Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License in active and good standing status or CPA equivalent credentials required

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite at a highly proficient level, including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

-Knowledge of revenue recognition, accounting, and reporting practices of a publicly-held IT government services contractor

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-MA or MS degree in Accounting or MBA degree
