Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
The Project Accountant (PMA) works closely with the Project Manager in the financial management of the project. The ideal candidate has basic accounting knowledge and is able to interact with key members of the project team. Specifically, the PMA handles everything involving the financial side of the project including, project initiation, budgets, expenditure tracking, invoicing, status reports, management of unbilled costs, purchase requisitions, percent complete updates, accounts receivable, etc. The individual will also work with Project Managers on contracts, subcontracts, and change order documents.
Decision making skills, ability to work in a team environment, follow directions, attention to detail, and the ability to exercise good judgment are required to successfully handle these responsibilities. The individual should be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, have a client service attitude, as well as strong organization, communication, and document coordination skills. The PMA will work in Oracle ERP.
Five (5) + years of related experience
A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word and Excel required
Working knowledge of ERP system
Strong communication and writing skills
Advance analytical skills
Willing to work both independently and as part of a team
A degree in business, accounting, or finance, and/or five (5) + years of equivalent experience is preferred
Oracle ERP experience is preferred
Experience in federal accounting and understanding of federal regulations
Detailed knowledge of project contracts and change order documents
