Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Senior Accountant.

The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager. The primary function of this position is to perform advanced governmental accounting, which includes accounting for municipal debt, investments and grants in accordance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Senior Accountant position also assists with completion of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and coordination of the annual external audit of financial statements. This position also supervises a staff of two.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance;

  • 5 years of experience in governmental and/or non-profit accounting;

  • 3 years of supervisory experience;

  • Certified Public Accountant;

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board Pronouncements and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and/or ordinances;

  • Knowledge of automated financial systems and spreadsheet software;

Must be committed to continuous quality improvement, have a solid track record of taking initiative, and adept at building strong working relationships with co-workers and customers.
