Kodiak Area Native Association Staff Accountant in Kodiak, Alaska

Staff Accountant Location: Kodiak, Alaska Hours: Full-time / eligible for full benefits package FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, recording business transactions. Prepares and distributes reports of expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables. Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings. Complies with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures. Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. Reconciles bank accounts to the general ledger monthly. Audits and reconciles purchasing card activity monthly. Monitors grant expenditures against grant budget; meets with grant managers to assist in formulating plans to maximize use of grant funds. Assists in preparing required financial grant reports. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting or business from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
