The Boeing Company Senior Financial Accountant in Seattle, Washington

The Boeing Store Inc. (BSI) has a unique opportunity for the right candidate to work within Boeing while supporting the end to end accounting functions as a financial accountant level 4 for this Incredible business. Boeing Stores operates 14 retail stores, an e-commerce website (boeingstore.com) and Custom, Corporate and Wholesale Sales divisions we are a wholly owned subsidiary of the Boeing Company. The successful candidate supports BSI Accounting work-product quality, regulatory accounting policies and deadline requirements. Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) experience desired, as well familiarity with Boeing policies and procedures. This position will require non-standard work hours on the calendar month end to support the closing of the retail stores financial data and integration with our GL Great Plains system. The candidate will also perform accounting close and normal activities that are carried out in compliance of the regulations and policies as directed by SSG (Shared Services Group) monthly consolidation schedule. Duties include, but are not limited to: preparing and entering journal entries, consolidating inputs, preparing monthly and quarterly schedules and reconciling GL accounts. This position requires the ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle both routine and complex duties in a dynamic environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on a team that oversees the financial process for a retail business within Boeing. The candidate will interact with multi-disciplines to support lean opportunities and new projects.Leads the research, preparation, data validation, review, approval and reconciliation of complex financial statements and reports. Leads the analysis and mitigation of compliance risk/errors of a complex nature. Leads the analysis and interpretation of highly complex directives, policies and regulatory requirements to provide expert guidance on new and existing accounting issues including the writing, editing and approving of white papers on accounting issues. Leads the identification and communication of cost collection requirements and develops, implements and maintains cost accounting structure/systems, tools, data and related realignment activities. Leads the development and deployment of highly complex changes to accounting tools and processes.

Bachelor's degree and typically 10 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 8 or more years' related work experience.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5 years in Financial Accounting

  • 3 years in Microsoft Excel (i.e. formulas, pivot tables, linking worksheets

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years working in EAS and Cognos

  • Masters in Business Administration degree

  • 3 years dealing with Inventory accounting and management, including costing and physical inventory controls

  • Currently a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • 3 years with retail accounting
