Edwards Lifesciences Financial Accountant in Canada

JOB SUMMARY

The incumbent of this position will be responsible for A/R and A/P, general accounting, inventory accounting, and tax/treasury support for Edwards Lifesciences. The position will also be responsible for other special projects as identified by Edwards Lifesciences.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS

Monthly Close Process

  • Preparation and submission of monthly Intercompany Statements

  • Journal Entry Preparation and Posting to G/L

  • Review of P&L and Balance Sheet Accounts

  • Prepare and ensure integrity of financial reporting submitted through Hyperion Financial Management system

  • Monthly and Quarterly Financial Reporting

  • Preparation of Sales Tax remittances

General Accounting

  • Monthly reconciliations and explanations of P&L and Balance Sheet Accounts; resolution of issues

  • Management of JD Edwards Integrity Reports and resolution of Issues

  • Maintenance of Chart of Accounts

  • Management of Fixed Assets Additions, Disposals and Reporting

  • Monthly Review of Distribution and Freight charges

  • Preparation of Financial information package for Operating Reviews

  • A/P and A/R tasks

  • SOX Testing and Reporting

  • Documentation of procedures and processes

Inventory Accounting

  • Management of accurate recording and reporting of inventory

  • Monthly reconciliation and analysis of Inventory and Intercompany Inventory Payables Accounts

  • Investigation and resolution of Purchase Price Variances

  • Management of Other Cost of Sales accounts

  • Management of Inventory reserves & analysis of samples and consignment inventory

  • Maintenance of Inventory Costs

  • Management of Credits from Suppliers

  • Customs information management

Tax and Treasury

  • Management of bank accounts

  • Netting payment and reconciliation

  • Calculation of income tax provision & quarterly and annual tax kit preparation

  • Preparation of tax information for annual tax return

  • Cash Flow forecasting and management

  • Commodity tax set-up in JD Edwards

  • Self-assessment of commodity taxes

Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • CGA, CMA or CA Accounting Designation Required

  • Business Degree with Accounting Concentration Preferred

  • 4 Years of Accounting Experience, with monthly accounting cycle

  • Experience with JD Edwards, Cognos and Hyperion Financial Management preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products.
